چکیده

The ground state properties of the high spin Heisenberg chains with alternating single site anisotropy are investigated by means of the numerical exact daigonaization and DMRGmethod. It is found that the ferrimagnetic state appears between the Haldane phase and period doubled Néel phase for the integer spin chains. On the other hand, the transition from the TomonagaLuttinger liquid state into the ferrimagnetic state takes place for the half-odd-integer spin chains. In the ferrimagnetic phase, the spontaneous magnetization varies continuously with the modulation amplitude of the single site anisotropy. Eventually, the magnetization is locked to fractional values of the saturated magnetization. These fractional values satisfy the OshikawaYamanaka-Affleck condition. The local spin profile is calculated to reveal the physical nature of each state. In contrast to the case of frustration induced ferrimagnetism, no incommensurate magnetic superstructure is found.

Ground state properties of the S = 1/2 frustrated Heisenberg chain with period 3 exchange modulation are investigated using the numerical diagonalization and DMRG method. It is known that this model has a magnetization plateau at 1/3 of the saturation magnetization M s. On the other hand, the ground state is ferrimagnetic even in the absence of frustration if one of the nearest neighbour bond i...

Frustrated quantum Heisenberg ferrimagnetic chains

We study the ground-state properties of weakly frustrated Heisenberg ferrimagnetic chains with nearest and next-nearest neighbor antiferromagnetic exchange interactions and two types of alternating sublattice spins S1 > S2, using 1/S spin-wave expansions, density-matrix renormalization group, and exact-diagonalization techniques. It is argued that the zero-point spin fluctuations completely des...

Quantum Heisenberg antiferromagnetic chains with exchange and single–ion anisotropies

Using density matrix renormalization group calculations, ground state properties of the spin–1 Heisenberg chain with exchange and quadratic single–ion anisotropies in an external field are studied, for special choices of the two kinds of anisotropies. In particular, the phase diagram includes antiferromagnetic, spin–liquid (or spin–flop), (10), and supersolid (or biconical) phases. Especially, ...

Schwinger boson mean field theory of the Heisenberg Ferrimagnetic Spin Chain

The Schwinger boson mean field theory is applied to the quantum ferrimagnetic Heisenberg chain. There is a ferrimagnetic long range order in the ground state. We observe two branches of the low lying excitation and calculate the spin reduction, the gap of the antiferromagnetic branch, and the spin fluctuation at T = 0K. These results agree with the established numerical results quite well. At f...

Magnetic correlations and quantum criticality in the insulating antiferromagnetic, insulating spin liquid, renormalized Fermi liquid, and metallic antiferromagnetic phases of the Mott system V2O3

Magnetic correlations in all four phases of pure and doped vanadium sesquioxide (V2O3) have been examined by magnetic thermal-neutron scattering. Specifically, we have studied the antiferromagnetic and paramagnetic phases of metallic V22yO3 , the antiferromagnetic insulating and paramagnetic metallic phases of stoichiometric V2O3 , and the antiferromagnetic and paramagnetic phases of insulating...
